I took part in Penguin's Book Cover Design Competition. I selected the Childrens Category, where the focus was on redesigning the cover for Madeleine L'Engle's  "A Wrinkle in Time".

As this is a classic piece of children's literature, I wanted to give a nod towards the previous book covers, whilst also embodying the spirit of the book in a new way.

I decided put the landscape to the forefront as the main focal point of the cover becuase most childrens illustrations focus on the characters, however as there are a lot of different worlds and planets mentioned in the book I wanted there to be a bigger focus on location. The main characters are still represented through three hands that are holding different types of flowers. The flowers act as a metaphor for Charles-Wallace, Meg and Calvin.
