Poetry Illustration
Illustrations for a series of Poems
Mixed Media, 2024
I created a series of 8 illustrations, inspired by 8 poems created by the poet Hannah Crossland for her anthology.
There were a total of 14 poems selected. 6 were illustrated by my artist friend Amy Wood and the rest were completed by me.
The themes that the poet was exploring were childhood and growing up, relationships, friendships and mental health. All themes that are suitable for a teenage audience. I enjoyed exploring how the poems got slightly darker and darker as you followed on from one to the other, that's why the images reflect this in their look.
This project was co-produced with fellow artists:
Amy Wood and Hannah Crossland.

Watch Me.

Reach for me and you will grasp nothing.
Cup hands
around hollowed cheeks,
marvel at my fractured teeth,
tug at my taught skin,
twist my bones into string.
Watch me frag
ment before you.
I am smoke and vapour
to everyone except him.
